Install & FAQ's

How many BTU's to choose:

Use this simple calculator to correctly size the system you should order and install.
A general rule is 25 BTU per square foot.

Estimated sizing based on 8ft ceilings and average insulation with average sun exposure:

250 sq ft = 9000 BTU (0.75 tons)

500 sqft =12000 BTU (1 ton)

750 sqft = 18000 BTU (1.5 tons)

1000 sq ft = 24000 BTU (2 tons)

1500 sqft = 36000 BTU (3 tons)

How do I power my mini-split system?

Your outdoor condenser will need to be wired into an A/C disconnect by code. Please consult an Ontario Licensed Electrical Contractor to add a separate breaker of the correct size with the correct gauged wire to feed your A/C disconnect. Be safe; don't attempt any electrical work you are not comfortable with.

The indoor air-handlers get their power from the condenser alongside the communication wire.

You can view the breaker sizing in the specs chart here.

What is the max refrigerant line length?

You can connect lines with couplers for a total of 75 feet. The lines come in 16, 25, 35, and 50 foot lengths. If you order longer lines, we will include the correct sized communication wires.

What should I do with the extra line?

Any excess line should be coiled under the condenser neatly in a horizontal orientation. I found that making a loop under the floor between the joists or in the attic worked well and is tidy. Do not cut the lines in a pre-charged system.

How long is the line guard?

The line guard covers roughly 12 feet of line.

Inspect your delivery for damage:

Please inspect all packages/shipments for damage. If it arrives damaged, have the delivery driver note damage on the receipt. If it is severely damaged, REJECT the shipment. If you accept the shipment visibly damaged, we may noy be able to file a claim against the delivery company, unless the damage is noted. Take pictures of the damage. If outside damage is not visible, but is discovered after opening, WE HAVE 5 DAYS AFTER DELIVERY TO FILE A CLAIM. Again, take pictures and notify us ASAP.
